University & TAFE Scholarship Program

We launched our University & TAFE Scholarship Program in 2023 with the aim of supporting our local students with their studies. It’s been a huge success so far, with 32 local students having been provided with scholarships to date.

The scholarships are used to support students with the start up costs of their courses – including travel, accommodation & study materials. This allows them to adjust to their new stage of life without added financial pressure on themselves and their families. We know that our young locals are the future of our community – so we’re very proud to help them put their best foot forward as they enter the big wide world!

Here’s what some of our recipients have had to say about their Scholarship:

  • ‘I’d like to say a massive thank you to the Community Bank for their financial support. Moving away from home and starting University can be daunting, and the scholarship has taken a huge weight off my shoulders with expenses. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to focus on my studies and navigate University life without the extra financial pressure.’ – Tara Atley, 2025 recipient
  • ‘It’s been really awesome to take a leap into adulthood but slightly less awesome to start paying bills… without the financial support from the Community Bank, I seriously don’t think I could have made it through the first year’ – Makayler Tatt, 2024 recipient
  • ‘I didn’t realise how much groceries actually cost which was a shock! I would like to thank the Community Bank for their support as they have made living independently at Uni easier’. – Declan Pearse, 2024 recipient

Applications for our University & TAFE Scholarship Program are generally open in December & January each year and are taken through our Smartygrants platform here:
